Doin' the Same Thing
04:33
|
|||
here we go again.
askin' "remember when"?
doin' the same thing
a mirror in my face
each year's like the last
high watermark from the past
dying to feel something
in the spring tides of life
time will tell in which ways i have failed
or who i let down
but at least i've tried my best
is it enough to carry me from this life
onto the next or back to the start
so give me strength to move on
or do this all again
until then i'll fill my days
with routines and things i love
around around around around
uh oh little light
stay close
stay by the tides
who knows some change is right
who knows there's no break in life

In a Haze
03:49
|
|||
i always gave twice as much
as i had in my heart
it's getting hard
to feel amazed
or trust myself
like i did as a kid
but you still said
i know you want simple life
a little light and someone to be quiet with
my worried thoughts, my senseless fears
dissipate in a haze when you come near
some things don't change
given time, maybe rearrange
eerie red sun i only want to see it's dying light once more
not quite heavenly, we're not only of the earth we're of the universe
Recorded at Studio 14 in Baltimore, and Our Blue Heaven in SP around 2016

Song 3 take 4
01:47
|
|||
This was a write and record experiment session with Max and Steve each switching off instruments and recording whatever we wanted. The process involved looping, jamming, and then chopping everything up to create a song. Four takes of a mix is pretty average for me, sometimes there are 10 mixes and 3 unique versions of one song.

Max on Guitar
SERA is the scientific environmental research area at UMBC where I went to school. I used to hike there between classes and there was a mailbox at the trailhead full of anonymous letters. This song was inspired by a letter i found there someone wrote to themselves prepping for an inevitable breakup.

Written during hurricane sandy in 2012 when all the power was out at Our Blue Heaven. You can hear the wind blowing through the open door and a fire crackling in the background if you listen close.
